The weekly “Deeper” event will not be running any longer, until further notice.
What is Storehouse?
It is a wonderful gesture of kindness in these difficult times.” St Andrews Health Visitor
Storehouse is a very simple and effective way to express Gods love to the most vulnerable people in our community. We give bags of food and toiletries to individuals or families who are in crisis and are unable to provide for themselves.
They may have lost their job, had a family split up, be the victims of domestic violence, or had their benefits delayed or suspended. In desperate times we are able to meet their immediate need for food and extend Gods kindness to them.
Who is involved?
We partner with seven other churches in St Andrews who donate food on a regular basis:
At the moment we distribute the bags through local organisations:
We are very excited to be working alongside other churches and are keen to expand further to meet the needs of this beautiful area of Fife. God is working through the little donations we make to express His concern for those who are struggling.
What can I give?
The shopping list includes non-perishable food, household items and toiletries, and we hope you will get into the habit of adding one item to your shopping list each week. With food items please choose things that are easy and quick to cook with the minimum of preparation.
Recommended items:
Breakfast: cereals, UHT milk, small jars of coffee, foil packs of teabags, cereal bars
Lunches: pot noodles, packet soup, crisps, jams/spreads, biscuits/snack bars, small long life drinks
Meals: tinned meat/ fish, tinned meat in sauce/gravy, tinned vegetables, dried rice/pasta, packet sauces, dried packet meals, tinned/ long life puddings, tinned custard/cream
Toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo, soap, sanitary towels/tampons, deodorant, nappies, baby wipes
Household: soap powder, toilet roll, washing up liquid, cleaning products, cloths
“The regular donations of food bags do make a real difference in the lives of the children and families we work with.” Families First
We ask that you buy good quality brands (not Value brand) because we want to demonstrate to these people that God values them highly, and raise their self-esteem by giving them nice things.
You will find a donation box in each church; in Kingdom Vineyard this is on the stage beside the noticeboards. The team of 15 volunteers from The Kingdom Vineyard collect the donated food and pack it into about 25 bags each month.
Each bag will normally contain supplies for 2-3 days food, including items for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a few toiletries and household items, depending on what has been donated.
