In August 2004, Toby and Carol Foster came to Scotland with a vision to start the Kingdom Vineyard in East Fife. Over a period of years, God had been speaking to them about church-planting in Scotland, and the vision gradually homed in on St Andrews and the Eastern half of Fife. They arrived with some trepidation, knowing only one family, and started their first House-group that November. Since then the church has grown to about 140, and they greatly look forward to KV’s increasing involvement in spreading the Kingdom of God locally and further afield.
Toby was born in Edinburgh, but has lived most of his life in London. He graduated with a degree in Law, and worked for nearly 18 years in the Metropolitan Police. In the four years prior to their move, Toby served as an Assistant Pastor at Riverside Vineyard Church. His portfolio of responsibilities there was broad, ranging from Sunday Catering to Evangelism to spearheading the church Building Programme, and all (well most) points in between. He trained at the Vineyard School of Ministry and Biblical Studies. He lists as his hobbies gardening, woodwork and good food and drink.
Although Carol herself is Scottish, she was born in Libya and lived abroad for many years before coming to boarding school in St Andrews. She has a degree in French and Spanish, and has worked in Healthcare, Charity Administration and more recently as assistant manager at Barnado’s Bookshop. At Riverside, among other areas of service, she had particular roles in Administration, in developing the Storehouse ministry, and in overseeing a “Cluster” of Home-groups. She is passionate about books and poetry.
Toby and Carol look forward to their family growing in God’s good time. At present they have three adult daughters and one son-in-law.
