Homegroups
In addition to Sunday meetings, the church also gathers in smaller groups throughout the week. These are the real engine-room of the church, and are the foremost expression the “Together-Life” of its members.
Home Group Leaders/Facilitators aim to promote a place to:
worship,
hear God’s voice,
study His word,
pray for and encourage each other, and
practice Spiritual Gifts.
Home Groups also often eat together, meet up for fun and enjoy welcoming visitors and newcomers. They are a great place to be real with each other and to develop friendships.
At the same time, Home Groups play a vital role as the primary unit of Pastoral Care within the church. They form an effective resource to care for everyone in the church, and a place where, as John Wimber used to say, “everyone gets to play”. People these days crave “Mentoring” and even “Life-Coaching”, but the amount that can be achieved by a Minister working alone is extremely limited. In Vineyard, it is the Home Group that provides most of these valuable functions, enabling us to care better for more people, as well as to develop pastoral skills in more of us, making the whole body more effective.
All our Home Group Leaders receive training and support, and are overseen by “Cluster Leaders” who are themselves experienced HG Leaders.
Everyone in the church is encouraged to join a group. Since we try to be as inclusive as possible, we do not have a Membership Roll. Instead, we treat as members of the church those who are members of a Home Group.
If you would like to visit one, see our list of groups. We encourage you to try different groups, and find the one that feels like Home for you.
